13 Unique Save-the-Dates

Whether you have gotten a million STDs (no no not those, save the dates) or just one. You always want a cool and creative one. The more memorable, the better!

JAR SAVE-THE-DATES
John Reburn at Appalachia Press designed all of Melany and Drew’s stationery, starting with a unique save-the-date jar. It was a play off the quintessential Southern condiment—Duke’s mayonnaise.

ARTISTIC SAVE-THE-DATES

As a reference to their art museum venue, Gina and Craig sent their guests mini canvases painted with the basic details of the wedding. It was paired with a little easel and a petite paintbrush with a paper flag wrapped around it with further information.

SKI LIFT-TICKET SAVE-THE-DATES

Stationer Kayln Denno of Lilah Paper designed Stacey and Eric’s lift-ticket-inspired save-the-dates, nodding to the couple’s own mountaintop engagement.

POSTER SAVE-THE-DATES

Sophia Amoruso’s save-the-dates took the form of black-and-white posters, stamped with gold foil that showed the NastyGal founder and her fiancé in a ’67 Mercedes SR. The photograph of the pair was taken by Samm Blake.

CARICATURE SAVE-THE-DATES

For Kim and Tom’s save-the-dates, Tess Emily Rodriguez drew the couple based on a photo, adding a hibiscus hair ornament and pineapple tie to fit the tropical theme of the wedding.

DIAMOND-SHAPED SAVE-THE-DATES

“We took a diamond pattern and split it to make Vs for our last name, Vanlandingham,” says Katherine. “And that created a look for us, repeated throughout our wedding.” The motif first appeared on their save-the-date cards, which were printed on a diamond shape and created by Antiquaria.

PANTONE CHIP SAVE-THE-DATES

HANDMADE SAVE-THE-DATES
The father of the bride, a former folk artist in Krakow, Poland, picked up his brush and painted a design on glass that incorporated photos the bride and groom took of each other, floral illustrations, and a crest. The final piece (which now hangs in the couple’s bedroom) was scanned and printed on card stock, with the wedding information typeset in both English and Polish on the back.

COPPER-FOILED SAVE-THE-DATES
Lizzy and Bucky combined watercolor and copper-foiled calligraphy on their save-the-date cards, made by A Day in May.

HEXAGON SAVE-THE-DATES
MaeMae & Co. created Ashley and Ryan’s save-the-dates, which drew inspiration from the bride’s hexagon engagement ring.

MULTILINGUAL SAVE-THE-DATES
Gabriela and Tyson designed their save-the-dates themselves and letterpressed them with sunny yellow ink on vintage machines at The Arm Letterpress. The wording was in both English and Portuguese, since the bride is Brazilian. A photo sticker of the couple sealed the kraft paper envelopes.

RECORD SAVE-THE-DATES
After spotting album-inspired save-the-dates in an issue of Martha Stewart Weddings, Erica and Rob decided to customize and send similar ones made by Ello There.

STATE-INSPIRED SAVE-THE-DATES
Vanessa, a graphic designer, created the letterpressed sate-the-dates for her own wedding. The suite incorporated laser-cut wood pieces, rustic twine, and other Maine-inspired accents.
